ODOR-B-GONE™
Patent pending Odor-B-Gone™ reduces odors when mixed with liquid asphalt cement. We have formulated the product to chemically scavenge and bind the components responsible for asphalt odors which bother workers and cause complaints from neighbors. ODOR-B-GONE is effective in the storage tank, during transport, mixing, and all stages of asphalt construction. At pennies per ton of hot mix asphalt (HMA), the additive is an economical answer to improving the environment for workers and neighbors of hot mix facilities.
The odor suppressant not only works with hot-mix asphalt, but cold mix and warm mix asphalt as well. And, when it comes time to reconstruct and/or recycle, asphalt originally treated with ODOR-B-GONE has no odor during re-paving operations. It is totally recyclable and environmentally friendly.
ODOR-B-GONE™ Benefits
- Low cost treatment of unwanted asphalt odors
- Easy-to-use additive
- Provides a pleasant environment for workers
- Reduces complaints from neighbors
- Can be recycled
Guidelines for Use and Mixing of ODOR-B-GONE
One five-gallon (US gallons) pail of ODOR-B-GONE should be used for each tanker load of bitumen (5,000 gallons) for regular neat asphalt bitumen liquids. For roofing asphalts or paving asphalts with high sulfur content, we recommend two (2) pails per load. When adding and mixing ODOR-B-GONE, it is important to achieve the correct ratio of additive to asphalt as well as uniform mixing and sufficient time for the additive to bind the odor-causing components. The materials should be thoroughly mixed prior to mixing the treated bitumen with the aggregates.
Tanker Trucks:
When treating tanker trucks, the pail should be poured directly into the EMPTY tanker. This will allow the ODOR-B-GONE additive to mix with the turbulent flow of the bitumen being added to the tank. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that every tanker load receive the same ODOR-B-GONE treatment. Failure to do so could result in potentially unsatisfactory results at the hot mix plant and at the job site.
Hot Mix Plant Storage Tank:
When added at the hot mix asphalt plant’s storage tank, the ODOR-B-GONE should be dumped into the tanker or directly into the off loading hose prior to unloading the liquid asphalt bitumen from the transport. The asphalt tank should be circulated to allow the additive to thoroughly mix into the liquid asphalt. This should be sufficient for most hot mix plant tanks. When ODOR-B-GONE is added directly into the hot mix asphalt plant storage tank, the tank must be circulated for at least two hours prior to use.
